Last week I decided not to play the 1000 euro buy-in event at Venlo, Holland. On Friday I decided to play the EPT Warsaw and happy I did, but more about that later. On Saturday I went to Holland Casino Rotterdam with some friends. We occasionally do this. There are 100$ 20-man sng’s there every night, and most of the time I’ll back a few of my friends for it. They don’t play poker regularly, but they watch me play a lot and we play some sng’s for fun at my place, so I think they actually have an edge in these.
We walked around a bit and since it was weekend they had a 5-5 NL game running. I decided to play for a bit. Boy did that kill my evening. Everything was nice and dandy until I lost a couple pots. I lost some preflop allins and postflop allins that put me on raging tilt. It’s been a loooong time since I felt that kind of explosion. Combined with some comments from people here and there and the run of cards I went loco. The low-point of the night was calling allin for 1k with {5c}{4s}, and yes that was preflop. I can’t remember the last time I tilted this hard, it must be over a year ago and I was embarrassed. After a while I packed my shit and left with a 7,000 euro hole in my pocket.
When I came home I wrote some gangsta shit to cool down a bit.
Sunday Tennis and JDK Training
First day of the rest of my life. I played Tennis again. My god, it’s been too long. I used to play for 8 years, and frequently, when I was younger. Always loving it, it’s a shame I didn’t play for 5-6 years. How good it felt. We went to play with Sluiter, Bas and Lisette. Jaco joined along to hang out and laugh at me. The first 3 hits felt a bit weird, but after that it went better than expected. My backhand presented some troubles due to rustiness, but overall I was pretty satisfied. God, do I love playing tennis. I bought rackets from Bas last week and we went to play again last Friday. I hope I can continue to play regularly, but I’m sure I will, cause it’s in my own hands. Even though those hands have tons of blisters on them now :O. Obviously, my body was aching, but in a good way, cause it’s regaining some energy and circulation :D.
After I played tennis Joost de Krijger dropped by. He goes as JDK87 on pokernews and the internetz and CanUCallThis on liquidpoker.net. More and more I’ve been talking to him about poker, and the more we talk, the more I think he has sick potential. On top of his potential I recognize a lot from the way I played in the beginning. Unconventional, complete FPS-syndrome and arrogant without ever having achieved anything. I like it. Most of our strategy talk looks like trash-talk, but with some legit points =514;. Anyways I think he can be sick and I hope I can help him to reach a certain level.
Normally I would always train for money, but with him I don’t care about that and I just wanna help him. Raw talent yo. Every time we play heads up I’m amazed how tough he is, considering the hours he plays (not many) and the stakes he plays now. He is tougher than most 2-4 regulars and he could hold his own in many 3-6 games. That says a lot about a guy playing 0,50$-1$. We had a lot of fun and talked poker a lot and both played. I have one 2x30” Dell setup and a 2x20,1” dell setup, so people that drop by can play very comfortably. Luckily I won a lot back from my casino tilt on 3$-6$ on ps. Sunday is always a fun day to play, cause the games are sick weak. Joost went down a ton but made a nice recovery and won a bit too. Some Jagermeister marked the end of a fun day. Btw Joost, if you read this.. I still think you suck and this would be a more appropriate career for you:
(watch the whole vid it's sick)
She doesn't look geeky anymore. In her next video's she looks a ton better and pretty cute. Or like Evelyn said: 'Daaamn, babygirl hit a salon'. That made me laugh :D.
EPT Poland, Warsaw
I was looking forward to going, also because I felt rested and energetic. Arriving at the airport, I met everyone from the Hotels.nl sponsor team. Michiel Brummelhuijs (utreg), Daan Ruiter (PokerDaan), Joep Durkstra (smokingjoep), Daniel Smidt (Danistar5) and their boss Kees. They were playing some Chinese while waiting for the flight. I joined them and we had a lot of laughs as is customary in the group of Dutch EPT travelers. Arriving at the Hyatt hotel I was pleased to see it was a nice environment AND that the casino was in the hotel. That’s just the best thing ever. You can walk down from your room waking up 15 minutes before the tournament starts.
I played on Day 1b, so I got to hang out a fair bit on day the first night. Day 1 A was railbird time for me. I almost never do it, but someone forgot to put my charger in my laptop bag, #$%#$@%^#$%, which means I had no internet the whole week. That was kinda tilting, cause I wanted to play online and grind, since I’m not playing enough when I’m at home. Luckily Ludovic Lacay busted out on day 1, which is a good thing for poker in general.
Day 1 b was pretty uneventful for me. The table was filled with nits and 2-3 good players. I was playing very patiently and it felt satisfying. I made some minor bluffs, which all worked because of my image. Then I got {Kh}{Kc} and Theo Jorgensson limped in the cut-off at the 75-150 level. I made it 550 on the button and both the blinds and Theo called. Theo is a very dangerous and good player, so he worried me the most. The flop was {3c}{6h}{7h}, mehh. They all check and I bet 1450. The blinds fold and I hoped to take it down there, but Theo called. The turn is the {9h} and he bets out 2700 this time. This is a slamdunk fold. I feel he either is betting a set here so I’m not gonna check behind or he just has a flush already and thinks im checking so he tries to take one more street of value. Whichever, I’m fucked, so I folded and I believe it was a good one.
Later on in the 100-200 level, there was 1 passive weak player and Theo isolating him. I took the pot down it first happened and Theo ‘accused’ me of making a play. The very next hand I get {Jh}{Th} and the same scenario plays out. Fish limps, Theo makes it 800. If I make a move for it here again I think I’m gonna get shoved on by half of his range. I decided to flatcall. Fishy calls too and the flop is {9d}{9h}{Qs}, not too bad. They both check and I bet 2400, near pot. This is basically a committing bet, cause I play 8.8k when we start this hand. Sure enough the weak player folds and Theo checkpushes, indicating a massive hand. The odds are fine though and after the amount I invested I called the allin bet. He had {9c}{7c} and he held up, knocking me out. I wasn’t too disappointed because I finally followed the gameplan I had. I played pretty tight, not taking every weakness I observed as a possibility to bluff. Also, this was one of the first EPT’s where I didn’t wanna fly home the moment I busted. I’m happy I didn’t, cause we had soooo much fun drinking in the lobby every day. I was cracking up all the time and it really inspired me to play more live events. I’m rested and confident and I enjoy spending time at poker tournaments again.
I almost missed my flight back, cause the hotel was hustling Hans Ritburg into paying 1000 euro extra, which was unacceptable of course. Due to Polish carelessness and a double-paid cab-driver, we made it. No matter how fun trips are, god it feels good to be home. And god it feels good to have youtube again.
Weekend
Friday I dropped by Jaco’s place. They were all going on vacation so we hung out there a bit. Saturday I went to Vlissingen to visit my parents and show my dad my Fender. He was completely in love with it and played on it for hours. Was nice to hear for me too cause I cannot play a single note still. Oh, I saw ‘The Bucket List’ in cinemas. Very nice movie, featuring Jack Nickelson and Morgan Freeman. If you have a chance to see it, gogooggo. Sunday I spent some time with my dad playing guitar and him explaining stuff about it. After getting a cup of coffee at my grandma’s place I went back home to play the Sunday’s online.
Tournaments on Pokerstars started an hour early. Nice, I missed the warm-up and the 100 FO starting around same time. Instantly demotivating me. I figured I would be chilling out and doing some blog-stuff. Luckily, Jaco convinced me in playing them, so I did. And how that turned out to be. First the T6-Sunday started, being a 150 euro rebuy. Remi came home when it was going for a wihle and we started drinking beers. By the time it got near the final table, I was completely hammered. That’s a good thing imo, cause I never cashed big in a tourney sober. Makes you think doesn’t it. I finished 3rd out of 1500 people, wooooot. Freerolling and still drinking I continued to play the pokerstars Sunday. From around 400 people left I had 10 bb’s the whole time. I managed to survive and pick my spots. When there were 100 people left I finally got hold of some cards and quadruple up in a couple hands. I was close to being leaderchip now and I hardly ever slowed from there.
At that point I stopped drinking, cause I was getting pretty dizzy. I made a pretty crucial call with {Ah}{Jh} allin for 110k in a 120k pot when I raised from the cut-off and the bb flatcalled. The flop was {Qs}{5d}{4h} and he stop and go’d shoved. I called and he showed me {Kc}{Jd}, wooooot. The rail started to explode from then and I went on to get deeper and deeper. I won some pots near the Final table, but overall my stack was diminishing. I entered the FT being 8 out of 9. I think I had by far the most FT experience of all the people that were there, so I still felt confident. Picking my spots I managed to move up a bit in stack until I won a big coinflip 22 vs AK to double up! LEEEE THANKS FOR THE ONE TIME. When it got down to top 3, no deals were being made, which was fine. One solid player and one weaker player were left besides me, and I moved myself in chipleader position. When I had 32 million vs 27million vs 16 million I went pretty cardead and had to slow down some. Then the uneventful bustout hand occurred. I raised {Ks}{5s} on the button and the solid player and chipleader by then called from the bb. The flop was {10c}{9s}{8s} and he frontbet 3m into a 4m, pot or so. I reraised to 12.8m and he shoved, with me calling obviously. He turned over 88 for a set and it held, busting me out. I don’t feel any regrets about the last hand, I was pretty content with the biggest tournament payday I had in my poker career.
The sickest thing is I played 2 tournaments and came in third in both of them. Both being Sundays of two different sites. It always feels good to come in third out of 7500 people. Hollaaaaaa. I’m not gonna forsake on my side-bet because of this score and I’m gonna do my best to win it. Thanks everyone for the support during the tournaments. I’m gonna chill out a bit this week and then play full throttle online before EPT San Remo and EPT Finals in Monte Carlo start.
OH I bought another guitar btw. Some present cause I did well this weekend. I think it’s important to treat urself after big hits, so you instantly see what you work for. Gibson SG Phantom BK
Christ, my body hurts. On Monday, I had a pretty nice day. My mom dropped by, Bart Spijkers came for a cup of coffee and I went to the hairdresser. Tension was building up though, cause I knew punishment was inevitable. At around 6.45pm I went to Rotterdam’s athletic court for the training. Bas, friend who plays tennis and trains there a lot, was waiting for me there and I was pretty nervous. I hadn’t worked out or did anything with sports in years. My stamina used to be insane when I was involved in boxing for a couple of years. My overall condition and
stamina plummeted since then though, time to get it back in shape.
Sick life. All I have to say. It was one of those workouts where you’re almost throwing up cause it’s so intense for you. There were tennis players and athletes. Most of them are top in their field so everyone is hungry as hell to improve. This is good, cause it gives you incentive to try your best and not slack off. IM FIGHTING FUCKING CLUBBER LANG AND I NEED EVERYTHING I GOT.
Fuck Ryan ‘BigBalls’ Daut for using a rocky video too. He stole the idea from me. Anyways, working out felt great but it was intense. My muscles hurt more than anything I ever experienced. I can hardly walk down stairs or get out of bed. It’s getting a bit better luckily, and I don’t mind much. Muscle aches always show you improved a lot. I did have some time to work on my rap career. Last time I shared my lethal lyrics with you. This time I just wanna show you guys how easy it is to be a famous rapper. A studio invited me and I did some rap masta blasta dubbings. Check it.
Guitar Hero
It’s going really well! This week I FCd 3 more songs. FC is the abbreviation for Full Combo, which means you hit 100% of the notes AND you kept your note streak through out the whole song. I FCd Messages from Velvet Revolver, Bulls on Parade from Rage against the machine and Mississippi Queen. I don’t even know who made M. Queen, but I don’t like him. God do I hate that song. I’m happy I FCd it so I don’t ever had to play it again. I have 9 songs FCd right now in Guitar Hero, so I’m happy, but I want a lot more. Again, to check out all my scores follow this link:
I uploaded most of my scores already, I just need to get the scores for all the bonus songs. My next FC’s-to be (I hope) are Sunday Morning by No Doubt, Don’t Speak by No Doubt and Dream On by Aerosmith. I’ll work a bit on those songs. When I’m actually gonna try and do hard stuff I might actually record a youtube vid of me killing it (or at least film until I kill it once) to put on the blog. I did have one bad beat cause Evelyn beat me on Through the fire and flames in an online match. I mean wtf, I lose to a chick on a metal song. Let the shoosting begin. I hope she realizes it was a pityfuck, so that she would want to play the song more. Hollaaaaaa.
Playing guitar hero all the time, I decided to buy a real Guitar. I bought a Fender Strat vintage hot rod ’62. It’s the same guitar Hendrix and Clapton use. Here’s a cool vid of some guy performing Cliffs of Dover on exactly the same guitar. That’s the one I got. I dunno how to play a single not yet, but fuck it, have to be balling out of control when we buy shit.
Poker
I played some little poker again. However, I feel like playing again. This is a welcome change and I’ll definitely be putting in more hours. Next Saturday is a 1000 euro event in Holland, but I’m still unsure if I wanna play it or not. Monday EPT Warsaw starts. I’m not really sure if I’m gonna play this one or not, but I’ll decide this weekend. I don’t wanna mess up my nice rhythm and the working out by going on a poker trip. There is still some time before San Remo EPT and then the EPT Finals Monte Carlo, both of which I’m definitely playing. I’m gonna play a ton more online in the near future though. Also, I’ll be looking to upload more hands into my blog. If any eventful ones come by that is.
Last but not least I wanna give a shoutout to Pokernews TV, Redwatch and scriptdude. Some of you might have seen the K4o video or heard about the jokes. So to give some background info; I 4-bet bluffed with K4o in EPT Dortmund to get slowrolled by Kings. Pokernews TV, nice guys that they are, decided to rub it in and make some prank interviews about the hand to diss my shit. They made a highlight video of it and how can I not put it on my blog :D. It’s actually flattering they did it. Also, nice of the other players to act along and big props to Kremser for doing that shit also live on the air. Enjoy the K4o story.
Like I said earlier in a small post, I have been sick lately and away from home. I went to Vlissingen (place of birth), to visit family and catch up etc. When I came back I was feeling kinda sick, but nothing extreme. Boy was I wrong. On Monday fever hit me full throttle. Sweat was literally dripping from my face and I spent most time in bed, trying to recover. It lasted a couple days but now I’m feeling great again. First things first, I was gonna put in a long entry about a tennis tournament here. One of the more fun days in the past months! I did get to do some stuff while being sick though. I recorded some sick lethal rap:
ABN Amro Tennis Tournament
It’s the biggest tournament Holland offers and one of the favorites of the pro’s themselves. I been there a couple times when I was young and innocent, but that’s like 8 years ago. I was really excited about it. Also, this was gonna be Raemon Sluiter’s last professional tennis tournament. People were anticipating this match greatly. Sluiter is the crowds favorite in Holland, which you can clearly tell from watching Davis Cup matches. I watched a ton of them always and I share those feelings.
All the more happy I was when Jaco, a friend of Sluiter, invited me to come to the match. I met them in the week before the tournament and so it was very cool to invite me :D. Jaco said there other people coming along, specifically from the world of snooker. They showed up at my apartment around 3 pm, sick life. Half woken up and half dressed I opened the door and at first I thought ‘oh fuck’. Everyone was well-dressed and my apartment was a pile of garbage. Then I thought ‘fuck it’, it’s just the way it is and the only ones I clean up for when they drop by are my grandparents. Luckily, they didn’t mind at all and loved the way my ‘bachelor’s pad’ looked.
Little did I know, these two gentlemen were greats from the world of Snooker, and now also Pool. Jan Verhaas, who is basically the best Snooker referee out there. If you see a big match on TV, it’s highly likely he is ref. The other was Tony Drago, long-time top Snooker play and #4 in the world in Pool as we speak. We had some coffee here and then went to play some pool. Was really fun and we had some drinks. Tony Drago had his first drink in 6 years and was hammered pretty fast from drinking a couple Baileys. We played a game of pool and I won with some cheesy 9-ball combination ZOMG! When he wanted to rematch I obviously declined, securing my winning record against a top pool pro by doing so. Ship it.
We went to Ahoy in Jaco’s car and had some food in the VIP Village. During dinner I met Richard Kraijceck, which is cool, cause I’ve been a fan of him since I was a little kid. He is basically the first player I watched when I started to follow and figure out tennis. After dinner we got ready to attend the match. Jaco had tickets for Kraijcecks VIP Box, so our seats were sick. We shared the box with Sluiters family, who were of course attending his last performance(s).
The Match
He was playing Llodra, a young talented player who was running good lately. It was kinda weird. I just met Raemon but I was really, really nervous. I wanted him to win so bad and sitting there with his family and friends only made that feeling stronger. You get a glimpse of the whole world behind a top athlete and the importance of every performance. The match begun and people feared it would be over soon. Llodra won the first set with 6-1 and was playing like there was no tomorrow. He basically had 1 unforced error the whole first set. He hit everything and I hated him for it.
Then the second set the match really started. Sluiter was getting a better rhythm in the match and then one of the most intense moments I ever had in sports was borne. My god, I was literally shaking and my hands were sweaty. The crowd went completely crazy, supporting Sluiter. The whole hall was filled to the top, close to 10,000 attendants. The cool thing about watching a tennis match, is that you can hear a pin drop when points are being played. Then as soon as the point has been played, the hall explodes and you hear 10,000 people screaming their lungs out. The second set went to a tie-break, which was o so fitting. I think I hadn’t been that nervous since Holland and Brasil faced in penalties in 1998 World Championship. (fuck brasil holla)
Here is an example of people exploding thinking Sluiter hit an Ace. It's quiet, he serves, people think he hit an Ace, they explode.
Unfortunately he lost the tie-break. However, to me it didn’t really matter. Of course I would have loved to see him win, but the match was sick ass cool and the crowd loved it and showed their support. They had a cool closing ceremony to thank him for everything he has done for Dutch tennis. After that we hung out a bit and talked about the match. Around midnight Jaco offered to take me home, but not before Drago, Jaco and me went to eat some Chinese. Christ did they love duck :D.
Later that week we went to another couple matches at Ahoy. We saw Llodra play again, also Nadal and Davydenko. Most fun that day was playing padel. I was with Jaco and Lisette and they introduced this sick ass action game to me. My goodness, I was dying, but with a smile. It’s an action packed mix between tennis and squash basically. Here is a highlight vid from it.
Jaco hit the most impossible ball at the end of the match. Like, fuck, it’s even hard to explain it. He was running to the back of the field following a lob and then with a flick of his wrist sent the ball racing towards our side with his back towards us. Was sick.
After the match I went to Vlissingen and came back home sick.
Poker
I played some poker when I got home, well some, I ended up doing another 45 hour session. I started out with some tourneys which went well. Finished 3rd in the 50 rebuy on T6 Poker. I had some minor cashes on Pokerstars, but nothing special. Then I played some cash games on Stars, in which I also did good. I played heads up vs Bart Spijker at the end of the session, swing mania. Bart was believed to be one of the weaker high stakes players, when he just made his appearance on pokerstars. That was probably true, but boy did he improve. Playing him now is sick ass, high variance, and not just upswings now. He puts sick amount of pressure and every pot is a big one. Props to him for improving so quickly and it’s fun to see, cause I like the guy a lot.
The rest of the week I’ve been lying in bed like I said earlier. On Friday I did put in a lot of hours, which is good, cause I haven’t been playing much. Pokerstars had a double VPP/FPP cause it was leap-day on Feb 28th. Yesterday I played some hu on 2-4 and 3-6 and that went pretty well too. I don’t have any really interesting hands to show from the sessions, sorry.
Guitar hero
Since my last blog I have a couple of new achievements and stuff. I 100% FC’d Generation Rock and metal Heavy Lady. On metal Heavy Lady I’m top 100 on the leaderboards in score, yay. Also a new No Doubt song-pack came out and I would recommend it! Sunday Morning is such a fun song to play. Oh, I made a list with my scores on Scorehero.com. I didn’t put every score there yet, but I’ll gradually complete the list, so if you’re interested check it out. I also finished the game on expert finally, fucking Lou.
It’s a good thing that I 100%’d a couple more songs. I needed the morality boost. More and more I was getting pissed off when I played bad, basically because I hate to suck at something I love doing. One time I was so pissed off when playing Evelyn online, I just walked away and went to bed. From her point of view it was as if I stopped playing, but she had no idea where I was going. I told her the next day I had internet problems cause I was kinda embarrassed. So NOW YOU KNOW, YES I LEFT PISSED OFF. Childish me, but fuck it I don’t care.
Tomorrow is my first session with a personal trainer. He trained Sluiter before he quit and he has a lot of experience with some big football teams in Holland. He is probably gonna kill the living shit out of me, but that’s kinda the point. Can’t wait to start and I hope it improves the way I live. Hollaaaaaaaaaaaa. Maybe he can even teach me how to do this:
Hope you enjoyed reading it and if you didn't well.. your probably an idiot anyway.
